Sen. Kamala Harris is a "fierce" and "strong" choice to run as Joe Biden's vice president, Jill Biden said of her husband's running mate, adding that the California Democrat was also her choice for the 2020 race.
"Kamala was both of our choices, because I admire strong women," Biden said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," in one of her television appearances Wednesday morning after her speech from her former classroom during the Democratic National Convention Tuesday.
"Kamala's fierce and she's strong and she's tough," Biden added. "She'll be a good debater. And more than that, she'll be a good partner for Joe, and that's what he needs, a partner to help him govern. He always said that he and Barack [Obama] had a really tight relationship and that they had this — shared the same values, and that is what he has with Kamala."
Biden Wednesday also defended her husband on ABC's "Good Morning America" and NBC's "Today" from accusations from President Donald Trump and other Republicans that he suffers from cognitive difficulties, calling those contentions "ridiculous."
"Joe’s on the phone every single minute of the day, talking to governors who are calling him, and Nancy Pelosi," she told NBC. "He’s on the Zoom, he’s doing fundraisers, he’s doing briefings. I mean, he doesn’t stop from 9 in the morning to 11 at night. So, that, you know, that’s ridiculous."
Earlier this week, the president's reelection campaign released a digital ad that shows spliced clips of Joe Biden from 2016 and now that aim to show him losing his train of thought.
Biden also appeared on "CBS This Morning," where she said she's confident her husband will win in November.
"I think our country is looking for new leadership, and they're looking for someone who's steady and strong and has the character to lead us forward, and that's Joe," she said. "That's my husband, Joe."
