Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, maintained Jerusalem is not "off the table" regarding Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, although President Donald Trump had made that statement.
"We have done nothing to prejudge the final borders of Jerusalem," Haley said during a Thursday U.N. Security Council meeting, the Washington Examiner reported.
Trump suggested his December 6, 2017 announcement Jerusalem would be recognized as the capital of Israel settled a main issue in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
"We took Jerusalem off the table, so we don't have to talk about it anymore. They never got past Jerusalem," Trump said Thursday in remarks to the press, as The Times of Israel reported.
Israel wants to make peace with the Palestinians, Trump said.
"I hope the Palestinians want to make peace," Trump said, per The Times of Israel. "And if they do, everybody's going to be very happy in the end."
