President Donald Trump is scheduled to have lunch with Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Monday, shortly after Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his business associate Richard Gates were indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller, The Hill reported.
Sessions was invited to join Trump's weekly lunch with Vice President Mike Pence, which is closed to press coverage.
Trump is likely to raise the issue of the indictments on 12 counts, including conspiracy against the United States and money laundering.
Some say Mueller could use the charges in an attempt to gather information from Manafort connected to the Trump campaign's alleged collusion with Russia to interfere in the presidential election.
The indictments are likely to further strain relations between Trump and Sessions, since the president has criticized him for recusing himself from the Russia investigation, which resulted in the appointment of the special counsel, according to the Daily Beast.
