Jeb Bush launched another stinging attack on Marco Rubio Wednesday, taking out a full-page ad in a leading New Hampshire newspaper that says the majority of Florida leaders believe the former Sunshine State governor is the superior leader and better equipped to be president.
The huge ad in the influential New Hampshire Union Leader features a letter "from the people who know Marco and Jeb best" — seven current former and current speakers of the Florida House of whom Rubio was once a member,
FloridaPolitics.com reports.
"While Senator Rubio is a tremendous political talent, he is not the best choice to serve as Commander-in-Chief," the ad states.
"Nearly every political leader in Florida of stature who knows Marco and Jeb's records have joined us in endorsing Governor Bush …
"Take it from the people who know Marco and Jeb best. Governor Bush is the leader we need to make America safe, stronger, and freer."
The letter is signed by Allan Bense, Steve Crisafulli, Dean Cannon, Larry Cretul, Tom Feeney, John Thrasher and Will Weatherford.
The latest blast at Rubio comes as Bush attempts to rally in next Tuesday's New Hampshire primary following his dismal showing in the Iowa caucuses where Rubio placed third behind Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and billionaire developer Donald Trump.
Bush's criticism of Rubio has been a bone of contention among some Republicans who believe Rubio may be the only "establishment" GOP hope against Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and billionaire developer Donald Trump.
In one recent attack ad, Rubio is portrayed by an actor wearing pricey cowboy boots and doing smooth dance steps to the tune of the Nancy Sinatra hit "These Boots are Made for Walking." The word "walking" is replaced by "flipping" to highlight Rubio's alleged flip-flopping on the issues.
