As the Democratic Party's presumptive presidential nominee Joe Biden continues its search for a female running mate, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., said no thanks.
According to WMUR, Shaheen and her fellow Granite State senator, Maggie Hassan, were invited to interview for the job. Hassan said yes, Shaheen said no.
Shaheen, who served as New Hampshire governor from 1997-2003, wants to keep her Senate seat and represent her constituents, WMUR reported. She declined the invitation about two weeks ago.
Hassan, on the other hand, has interviewed with campaign officials and is still on Biden's list of potential running mates.
"I'm flattered that Vice President Biden publicly mentioned my name as someone whom he would consider," Hassan told WMUR. "I am not going to comment about his process, whatever that may be. My focus each and every day continues to be serving the people of New Hampshire in the United States Senate."
Biden has vowed to select a female to join him on the Democratic Party's November ticket. Among those also being considered for the role are Sens. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Kamala Harris of California, Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, and Val Demings of Florida.
