Hackers are targeting Sen. Jeanne Shaheen’s staff, the congresswoman told CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday.
"There has been one situation that we have turned over to authorities to look into, and we're hearing that this is widespread, with political parties across the country, as well as with members of the Senate," Shaheen of New Hampshire said.
The report comes three days after Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri said Russian hackers tried to infiltrate her computer network.
“Russia continues to engage in cyber warfare against our democracy. I will continue to speak out and press to hold them accountable,” McCaskill said.
“While this attack was not successful, it is outrageous that they think they can get away with this. I will not be intimidated. I've said it before and I will say it again, Putin is a thug and a bully."
Shaheen said lawmakers need to work together to address the issue.
"It affects both Republicans and Democrats. It's about the security of our political process and our government functions and we need to work together to address it.”
Shaheen, who said she was worried that the issue is “widespread,” also told CBS she was concerned with the lack of information on what President Donald Trump agreed on with Russian President Vladimir Putin during their summit.
