Hillary Clinton took to Twitter to throw a jab at Jared Kushner for making comments, which he has since clarified, that there were plans to move the Nov. 3 general election.
“I can’t believe I have to write this sentence, but the president's son-in-law doesn't get to decide when the election is,” the former Secretary of State tweeted Wednesday. She included a New York Times article on the topic with her message.
Contrary to Clinton’s comment, Kushner never indicated he wanted to move the election date.
Clinton’s remarks came after a Tuesday Time Magazine article where Kushner commented on the election possibly being pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“I’m not sure I can commit one way or the other, but right now that’s the plan,” he told Time.
Hours later, he told NBC News a different story.
“I have not been involved in, nor am I aware of any discussions about trying to change the date of the presidential election,” he said in a statement.
In both interviews, Kushner said he did not have the power to change the date of an election.
