Jared Kushner on Friday told a gathering of business leaders in New York City that his father-in-law's federal infrastructure plan is more Chuck Schumer than Mitch McConnell, The New York Times reported.
Kushner, speaking after the incoming Senate minority leader Schumer at the event, echoed President-elect Donald Trump's campaign promise of a $1 trillion infrastructure plan, an idea that puts him at odds with the Senate majority leader McConnell, still smarting from President Barack Obama's stimulus.
"I think the details are really important, but I hope what we clearly avoid — and I'm confident that we will — is a trillion dollar stimulus that will take you back to 2009," McConnell said this week.
