Former FBI Director James Comey has officially surfaced on Twitter and is promising to "tweet in useful ways," the Washington Examiner reports.
Comey is posting under the Twitter handle of @FormerBu, while officially using the name Reinhold Niebuhr, according to the Examiner. Niebuhr was an American theologian who wrote the Serenity Prayer.
The account was confirmed on Monday as belonging to Comey by his friend Benjamin Wittes of the Brookings Institution.
A Monday tweet on the account included a photo of a man, who appears to be Comey, standing in the middle of an empty highway. The photo was apparently taken on a trip to Iowa.
Some had jokingly speculated that Comey’s tweet and others from Iowa signal he was considering running for president in 2020, The Hill noted.
Comey was fired as FBI chief in March by President Donald Trump.
