Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville says there's a 50% chance President Donald Trump drops out of the race and will have the "worst Monday of his life" when the Afghanistan story continues to "explode."
"No one is scared of Donald Trump. He's not going to run," Carville said Sunday during an appearance on MSNBC.
The New York Times on Friday reported that the U.S. months ago determined that a Russian military intelligence unit offered Taliban-linked militants bounties to kill U.S. and coalition soldiers in Afghanistan.
The White House on Saturday denied that Trump and Vice President Mike Pence were briefed on the matter but did not dispute the validity of the intelligence as described in the Times report.
Carville also knocked Trump for retweeting a video of an apparent supporter saying "white power" in response to protesters.
"Thank you to the great people of The Villages. The Radical Left Do Nothing Democrats will Fall in the Fall. Corrupt Joe is shot. See you soon!!" Trump wrote in the tweet. Roughly three hours later, the tweet no longer appeared in Trump's timeline.
"He doesn't even understand where the country is, he doesn't know where he is and the Russians are running circles around him," Carville said.
"I'm not looking at the latest Florida poll. I'm watching a presidency disintegrate in front of my eyes. Republicans — Liz Cheney has eyes. They see what is happening."
