Ivanka Trump is promoting the new workers' council designed to train American workers for skilled jobs.
Trump, who serves as an adviser to her father, President Donald Trump, made her comments during an appearance on Fox News' "Fox & Friends" on Friday.
"We're incredibly excited," she said. "This is a culmination of a lot of hard work."
President Trump signed an executive order Thursday establishing the National Council for the American Worker.
Ivanka Trump said the announcement of the program was a "call to action for the private sector."
She said retailers and others have agreed to nearly 4 million job opportunities as part of the program.
"They want to ensure that they have skilled employees," she said. "So, they are reaching into the high schools, and saying: 'We're going to train you for jobs that we have vacant because of the roaring economy.'
"But they're also going to look at their own workforces and say, based on automation, based on the rapid changes from a technological perspective there is going to be disruption and we're going to take some of our mid- to late-career workers and we'll reskill them and give them new and better opportunities within our companies to do other jobs. It is really exciting initiative. It's a bold initiative," Ivanka said.
President Trump also discussed the new initiative during an interview on CNBC's "Squawk Box."
"We need people with skill," he said. "We need people who are trained. "We're talking about almost 4 million jobs."
