It doesn't really matter who wins the Democratic Iowa caucuses or the Democratic nomination, conservative pundit Ben Stein said Monday night — none of them have a chance in November against the incumbent president.
Any of the Democrats can go toe-to-toe with President Donald Trump, but none can beat him, because he's "just too big" a person and personality, Stein said on Fox Business Network's election coverage.
"It's just going to be an insane murder when the general election comes up," Stein said. "It's just going to be bloody murder, which is a sad thing to say because the Democratic Party seems to me at one point was a great political party and had great, great ideas."
Asked whether former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg, who isn't even campaigning in Iowa or other early-voting states, could benefit from what may be a split decision in Iowa, Stein said that could be the case.
"I think Bloomberg could possibly shock everybody and turn the world upside down and come out ahead," he said. "He's been running these ads and spending a jillion dollars." Still, Stein said, Bloomberg cannot beat Trump.
"You cannot beat Trump. Trump is just too big of a figure to beat him."
When asked whether politics will ever be normal again, Stein quipped, "Normal is only sitting on a washing machine."
"There's no such thing as normal and it is changing all the time," he said. "And I think Mr. Trump has made sure there's never going to be another polite presidential competition ever again."
