Mike Braun, the Indiana Republican running for the U.S. Senate, blasted incumbent Sen. Joe Donnelly on Friday.
His comments came after President Donald Trump appeared at a rally in Indiana on Thursday pushing Braun’s candidacy.
In an interview on television’s “Fox & Friends,” Braun noted his differences with Democrat Donnelly.
“Big difference,” he said. “Because Joe Donnelly will only vote with the president if (Senate Minority Leader) Chuck Schumer lets him. And on no important legislation has he been with the president.
“You heard the president loud and clear last night. He needs a real recruit like me that’s going to be for the agenda of making American great again and getting these problems solved that have been around for a long time.”
Trump urged Indiana voters to unseat Donnelly saying he is “not going to vote for us on anything,” Time magazine reported. He called Braun a “special guy,” who will make a “truly great senator.”
