The Trump administration has nominated an investment banker from Connecticut to serve on the International Monetary Fund.
Mark Rosen, according to a White House press release, was tapped for the position of United States executive director of the IMF.
Rosen is the chairman of Latin America investment banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He has also worked at Credit Suisse, UBS, and Barclays during a career of more than 30 years.
If confirmed, Rosen would serve a two-year term.
The IMF joined the European Union earlier this month in asking President Donald Trump to ease back his tariffs.
"In a so-called trade war . . . nobody wins, one generally finds losers on both sides," IMF managing director Christine Lagarde said.
The position of U.S. executive director of the IMF is currently vacant. Sunil Sabharwal is serving as the alternate executive director.
