President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden, whose taxes are being investigated by a federal prosecutor in Delaware, was front and center at his father’s inauguration Wednesday.
He, his wife, and their infant son were seated with the Biden family as his father was sworn in.
"All good," Hunter responded to a reporter asking for his thoughts about the day ahead of the inauguration, Fox News reported.
The federal probe of Hunter Biden was predicated, in part, by Suspicious Activity Reports related to foreign transactions, allegedly involving China and other foreign countries, Fox News reported.
"I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors," Hunter Biden said about the probe.
His foreign business dealings — and whether is father was allegedly involved — became an issue during the 2020 presidential campaign after emails reported to have been from Hunter’s laptop revealed conversations related to business with a Chinese-owned company, Fox News noted.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said it’s “very likely” the Hunter Biden probe will come up at the confirmation hearing for the president’s nominee for attorney general, Judge Merrick Garland, the news outlet reported.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said before Garland’s nomination that Biden "will not be discussing an investigation of his son with any attorney general candidates," The Associated Press reported.
And though there’d been talk about a special counsel to ensure the Hunter Biden probe isn’t impacted by the Department of Justice, former Attorney General Bill Barr said he had "not seen a reason" to appoint one, Fox News reported.
