Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., said Monday that President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden cannot be compared when it comes to their conduct involving Ukraine.
"Well, let's be clear: Everyone who has looked at the facts of these allegations has concluded that Joe Biden did nothing wrong, that he was carrying out the policy of the Obama administration, the EU, frankly of the entire world community," Coons told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Monday, after host Joe Scarborough asked if Biden's son, Hunter Biden, should have been doing business in Ukraine – given his lack of experience and his father's work with the country at the time.
Scarborough pressed Coons on whether Biden participated in "soft nepotism," questioning how Hunter Biden obtained a high-ranking position at a Ukrainian company despite not having much experience.
"Hunter has spoken directly to this recently in a national television interview where I thought he was remarkably forthcoming and has expressed regret about the ways in which this has become a distraction in his father in running for the president of the United States," Coons said. "I think to make a comparison between the two – between Trump and Biden and the way they've conducted themselves – it's not a fair comparison."
