Hopeful Independent 2020 presidential candidate Howard Schultz on Wednesday deleted a re-tweet of an article that called Sen. Elizabeth Warren “Fauxcahontas,” a dig at her claims of Native American heritage, and Sen. Kamala Harris “shrill,” The Hill reports.
The tweet read: “Thank you @Rogerlsimon for a thoughtful analysis of what’s possible. #ReimagineUS” and included a link to Simon’s article titled, “Howard Schultz Could Actually Win the Presidency.”
Schultz, the former Starbucks CEO, over the weekend announced he was preparing to run for president in 2020 as an Independent candidate despite being a lifelong Democrat.
“We have a broken political system with both parties basically in business to preserve their own ideology without a recognition and responsibility to represent the interests of the American people,” Schultz, a billionaire, told The New York Times.
Harris, of California, and Warren, of Massachusetts, are also running.
Simon’s article called Harris “far from reassuring” and referred to her as a “quasi-socialist promising pie in the sky – Medicare-for-all, debt-free college, guaranteed pre-K, minimum basic income, confiscatory taxes – and she’s just getting started.”
Of Warren, Simon said: “Fauxcahontas already has, competing in a game of socialist one-upmanship.”
Warren last October took a DNA test to prove that she does have Native American heritage, a move she made after years of derision by President Donald Trump and other critics.
