If MSNBC continues to show President Donald Trump's daily press conferences on the coronavirus crisis, former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean vowed Tuesday he will refuse to appear on the network.
Dean tweeted:
"I just told MSNBC I wasn't going on their shows as long as they were broadcasting Trump's press conference. I won’t make much difference if it's just me but if 50 of you did it it would make a difference."
The former Democratic National Committee chairman added:
"And if everyone on this twitter feed stopped watching, it would make a really big difference."
MSNBC refused to comment, The Hill reported.
The daily briefings have attracted large television audiences looking for updates on the pandemic, but have also been criticized for Trump's handling of them.
CNN's Anderson Cooper accused the president of using the briefings to attempt to rewrite the history of the administration's "reprehensibly irresponsible response to this virus," adding Trump "uses them as a re-election platform, an opportunity to lie, to deflect, to attack, to bully, and cover up his own deadly dismissals of the virus for crucial weeks."
Fox News has carried the entire proceedings, although lately MSNBC and CNN have been showing only the portions in which the health professionals speak.
