House Republicans will once again portray Democrats as the representatives of entrenched Washington interests, as they campaign for re-election in 2012. The National Republican Congressional Committee plans to sock Democrats with the label of “Made in Washington,”
Politico reports.
With Democrats still in control of the White House and Senate, it may be a workable strategy. In a PowerPoint presentation delivered last month and obtained by Politico, NRCC officials accuse Democrats of “not listening to the American public” and clinging to policies that are “of Washington,” despite the shellacking Democrats took in the 2010 elections.
The NRCC sees the 2012 elections as a contest between one party (Republicans) that’s “fighting Washington,” and the other (Democrats) that’s “made in Washington.”
