Freshman House Republicans may be new to Washington, but they’re quickly finding their way on the fundraising trail. House freshmen have scheduled at least 100 fundraising events this month and next at choice Washington spots such as Charlie Palmer Steak and the Capitol Hill Club, a private Republican haunt, according to recent fundraising lists obtained by
Politico.
Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks is hosting a dinner, charging $500 for individuals and $1,500 for political actions committees, at the Capitol Hill Club Oct. 12. The event will include House Speaker John Boehner.
Meanwhile, South Carolina Rep. Mick Mulvaney plans a dinner Tuesday at Acqua Al 2, an upscale Italian restaurant in Capitol Hill. Tickets cost $1,000 for individuals and $1,500 for PACs. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., will attend.
Lobbyists usually dominate the crowds at these events.
