Hillary Clinton has a 2-point lead over Donald Trump in Ohio, making it a virtual tie in a survey with a near 5-percent margin of error, according to the latest Monmouth University Poll.
The results among likely Ohio voters:
- Clinton: 44 percent;
- Trump: 42 percent;
- Gary Johnson: 5 percent;
- Jill Stein: 1 percent;
- Undecided: 6 percent.
Clinton's lead has been shaved in half since August, when she led Trump 43 percent to 39 percent.
Both candidates are in the red with favorability rankings; Clinton's 20 points on the negative side to Trump's 27 points.
However, Clinton does hold the edge over Trump in temperament, with 59 percent saying she has right temperament for the job to 33 percent who think Trump does.
The Monmouth University Poll was conducted from Oct. 1-4 with 405 Ohio residents likely to vote in the November election. This sample has a margin of error of +/-4.9 percent.
