Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton cast her support behind Clark County Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani, candidate for Nevada governor, in a robocall released on Sunday, CNN reports.
Clinton, who has recorded similar messages for gubernatorial candidates Stacey Abrams in Georgia and J.B. Pritzker in Illinois, describes Giunchigliani as "an extraordinary progressive leader," and "a governor that you can be proud of," in the call.
"I am calling to ask you to vote this Tuesday for my friend, Chris G. for governor," Clinton continued.
"I have known Chris for many years, and I have seen how she has been an extraordinary progressive leader for Nevada. Chris' experience as a special education teacher, along with her many progressive accomplishments in the state Assembly and on the Clark County commission, make her uniquely qualified to stand up for Nevada's children and families."
Giunchigliani, who has supported Clinton since her 2008 campaign and served as a co-chair for her first campaign in Nevada, a state Clinton narrowly won over Republican President Donald Trump in 2016.
"From one strong woman to another, your kind words are much appreciated," Giunchigliani wrote to Clinton in a statement thanking her for the support, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Giunchigliani's main competition in the primary comes from fellow Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak, who has the endorsements of Nevada Democrats Rep. Dina Titus and former Sen. Harry Reid.
