Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, R-Penn., told Newsmax TV on Friday that his bill to withhold funding from the World Health Organization over its reaction to the coronavirus outbreak already has strong support in Congress.
Reschenthaler told “The National Report” that his bill “says that we're not going to give any more voluntary funds to the World Health Organization until one, [Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus] resigns, because he was either grossly negligent in handling the [coronavirus] epidemic, or worse, he was working hand-in-glove with the Chinese Communist Party to suppress information regarding the pandemic.”
He added that the WHO also would have to “submit to an international body with an investigation to see how this pandemic was mishandled.”
The congressman said later that he’s been very successful in gaining support for his legislation, saying they have “about twenty sponsors on the bill. Also, my counterparts in the U.S. Senate have spoken favorably on the issue. Sen, Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., in particular, so I think that there will be support. The hard part is going to be convincing the far-left Democrats, [and House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., to run this bill.”
He said that just “having this out there, putting pressure on Democrats to join the bill, is showing the World Health Organization that we're not gonna take this lying down, we're [not] going to allow them to take our funds to fund this organization, and have the organization turn around and champion the talking points of the Chinese Communist Party, and frankly allow this pandemic to spread around the world.”
