A gun-safety group, founded by former Rep. Gabby Giffords, D-Ariz., has launched a TV ad against Rep. Barbara Comstock, R-Va., and her 'A' rating from the National Rifle Association, Roll Call is reporting.
The spot, which was scheduled to debut on Wednesday, was previewed by Roll Call. It is part of a $1 million investment the Giffords PAC is making in Virginia's 10th Congressional District, according to Roll Call.
“Congress should be doing everything it can to protect families from gun violence,” the narrator says. “But time and again, Congresswoman Barbara Comstock has sided with the NRA over us.”
The ad will air on cable across the congressional district. Comstock is being challenged by Jennifer Wexton, a Democratic state senator.
An earlier ad by the group, targeted 10 Republican incumbents, including Comstock, for being aligned with the NRA.
Gifford was shot in the head in 2011 during a political rally.
