One of the militia members accused of planning to abduct Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer previously called President Donald Trump a “tyrant,” and said that government employees are “your enemy,” in a video on social media.
“Trump is not your friend, dude,” Brandon Caserta says in the video, according to the New York Post. “It amazes me that people actually, like, believe that when he’s shown over and over and over again that he’s a tyrant. Every single person that works for government is your enemy, dude.”
In other social media posts, Caserta ridiculed people wearing masks during the coronavirus pandemic, and went on a rant because he received a traffic ticket.
“Apparently I cannot go more than a month or two without getting robbed by government thugs for some made up traffic violation,” he wrote on Facebook, according to The Daily Dot.
“They robbed me for going around someone who was turning left at a blinking yellow light, on a one lane f–king road.
Caserta and 12 other men were arrested on Thursday by federal law enforcement officers on charges of plotting to kidnap Whitmer and take over the Capitol building with the intention of starting a civil war. Several of the accused have been connected to a militia group known as the Wolverine Watchmen, according to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.
