Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Sunday Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., winning the Democratic presidential nomination will benefit Congress, and have “severe” repercussions for Democrats.

In an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Graham predicted a Sanders selection would ultimately benefit the GOP.

“House Republicans… [will be] the biggest winner.. along with Senate Republicans,” he said.

“Bernie being the nominee for the Democratic Party will be pretty severe for the Democrats,” he added.

Graham also condemned the meeting last week of Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., and Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, which reportedly prompted President Donald Trump to accuse him of violating the Logan Act, which forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments.

“It's inappropriate for him to talk to the Iranians,” Graham said. “We are working with President [Donald] Trump to find an alternative to the Iranian deal that will be better for everybody including the Arabs and Israelis in the United States. But it was highly inappropriate to reach out to the Iranians.

Graham also vowed that in an investigation by the Senate Judiciary Committee, which he heads, the focus will be on the unsubstantiated dossier on Trump compiled by ex-British spy Christopher Steele in 2016.

“The first thing I want to do is call the people who heard from a Russian …source that this dossier is a bunch of … hearsay,” he said. “Here's what you've got to believe. The system was told by a Russian …source that everything in the dossier is unreliable. I find it hard to … believe that it didn't make its way to [former deputy director of the FBI Andrew] McCabe. … I want to find out, did it make its way to the top?”

“I want to find out who told what to who,” he added. “Then we'll call them. I just can't believe the investigation fell apart in January 2017, they got two more warrants after they knew it was a bunch of garbage. How could that possibly happen?”
