The Congressional Leadership Fund has launched two new ads in an attempt to link Amy McGrath, a Democratic House hopeful in Kentucky to Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s “liberal” agenda, The Hill is reporting.
McGrath is challenging Rep. Andy Barr, R-Ky., in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District.
The ads accuse McGrath of being close to Pelosi, D-Calif., and progressives like Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., The Hill said. The CLF is a super PAC aligned with Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis.
“The Pelosi liberals want to raise our taxes, pass a government takeover of healthcare and open America’s borders to illegal immigration,” one of the ads say.
McGrath, in an ad of her own, has maintained Barr sided with President Donald Trump and GOP lawmakers “98 percent of the time.”
And she has declined to say whether she would support Pelosi for speaker if Democrats regain control of the House, The Hill reported.
“I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to say because I don’t know who’s running,” she said.
McGrath came under criticism in June after The Washington Free Beacon reported that she once said Trump’s election gave her the same “feeling” as the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks. The National Republican Congressional Committee called on her to apologize for the remarks.
