The momentum that is already happening under President Donald Trump is continuing with Congress, and will continue moving forward in 2018, as "everybody realizes the American people want to see things done," Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., said Wednesday.
"People are excited about what happened with tax reform," Blackburn told Fox News' "Overtime Outnumbered." "They're looking forward to seeing how this is going to impact their pocketbook. They are saying let's move onto infrastructure, let's move on to a repeal agenda when it comes to getting regulation off the books. Let's fix the Affordable Care Act. People are excited to see things accomplished and to get things done."
Meanwhile, Americans will still face the challenge of higher healthcare costs in January, as Obamacare has not yet been repealed, but Blackburn said the new tax law, with its provision, will end the individual mandate.
"Once you get people out from under the individual mandate and they can move into the marketplace with high deductible health plans, you ease that burden," she said. "In Tennessee, we had 122,000 families last year that paid the penalty for not purchasing an Obamacare compliant plan, and 100,000 of those families had income of $50,000 a year or less. This is an incredible financial burden."
