Many in Washington, D.C. respect the Congressional Budget Office for its nonpartisan research on fiscal issues. But Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, disagrees and wants to see the agency shuttered,

He’s angry at the CBO, which began in the 1970s, for concluding that an extension of the Bush-era tax cuts would increase the federal deficit. “Despite the misinformation spewed on this floor, the fact is that when taxes have been cut, revenues go up — each time it's been done,” Gohmert said on the House floor.
“But we have such an ignorant way for CBO to operate, so for this political animal, and I know people say it's bipartisan — baloney. CBO is not bipartisan . . . We need bills scored by groups that can look at history and reality."
