Talk radio host and former Congressman Joe Walsh spurred reaction Wednesday on Twitter when he tweeted he was ready to grab his musket Nov. 9 if Hillary Clinton wins the presidency Nov. 8.
CNN's Jake Tapper asked exactly what that meant, to which Walsh replied:
Others, including "Jeopardy" champ Ken Jennings and liberal commentator Sally Kohn, questioned whether he literally meant he would take up arms.
Walsh told Chicago's NBC 5 the tweet was a "metaphor for civil disobedience."
"We're talking about a musket," Walsh said. "I could've said grab your slingshot and let's go. Metaphorically, I meant grab your muskets, if Trump loses, man, we're going to do what we have to do. We're going to protest and boycott and practice civil disobedience. We may start a third party."
"We're going to do a lot of things to get our country back, that's what I meant," Walsh said.
Walsh has stirred controversy with his tweets before. In July, he tweeted after three Dallas police officers were shot during a Black Lives Matter march.
"3 Dallas Cops killed, 7 wounded," he wrote in the tweet. "This is now war. Watch out Obama. Watch out black lives matter punks. Real America is coming after you."
Walsh later deleted that tweet.
