Republicans are aiming to put pressure on Democrats to defend their calls to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), NBC News reported.
The GOP has started running ads arguing that Democratic candidates have become too radical for moderate votes, the NBC report said. One GOP group is using the issue to target Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and the Republican Governor's Association is using the issue at a local level, Axios reported.
However, an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll reported Sunday that the issue might not be a definitive win for Republicans: 38 percent of Americans in the poll view ICE positively, while 37 percent have a negative view of the agency.
