The war between the White House and John Brennan ratcheted up a notch Monday afternoon as President Donald Trump’s lawyer labeled the former CIA chief a “blowhard.”
Intimating that Brennan is full of hot air when he says he may take Trump to court to have his recently-yanked security clearance restored, Rudy Giuliani, wrote on Twitter:
“To John Brennan: Today President Trump granted our request (Jay Sekulow and me) to handle your case. After threatening if you don’t it would be just like Obama’s red lines. Come on John you’re not a blowhard?”
Earlier, Trump on Monday dared John Brennan to bring a lawsuit over the ongoing security clearance skirmish, tweeting that it'd be that much easier to link the former CIA director to the "Mueller rigged witch hunt."
The president’s challenge came in response to Brennan's remarks Sunday that he's considering legal action to prevent the president from yanking his security clearance.
"I am going to do whatever I can personally to try to prevent these abuses in the future. And if it means going to court, I will do that," Brennan said.
Last week, Trump pulled Brennan's security clearance because of the former agency chief’s criticisms of his leadership. The president also said he was considering withdrawing clearances for other former high-ranking officials as well.
