The wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has come to the defense of Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, who has been accused of knowing about sexual abuse during his time as an Ohio State wrestling coach, saying the "false accusations [are] because he threatens the elite."
Seven former Ohio State University wrestlers have accused Jordan, who was a coach from 1987 to 1995, of knowing about sexual abuse perpetrated by the team's physician, Dr. Richard Strauss, who died in 2005.
"Jordan definitely knew that these things were happening — yes, most definitely," former wrestler David Range told The Washington Post. "It was there. He knew about it because it was an everyday occurrence."
"Jim Jordan is under attack, with false accusations, because he threatens the elite," Ginni Thomas wrote on Facebook, along with a video of a Fox News interview with the conservative, in which he denies knowledge of sexual misconduct on the part of the university wrestling team's physician.
"Conversations in a locker room are a lot different than people coming up and talking about abuse," Jordan told Fox News last Friday. "No one ever reported any abuse to me. If they had, I would have dealt with it. What bothers me the most, guys saying these things I know they know the truth. I know they do."
