President Donald Trump will be vindicated when the unredacted transcript of his July 25 conversation with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky is released Wednesday, White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley, who said he has seen the transcript, commented Tuesday night.
"We want the American people to understand that the media and Democrats pushed a Russian hoax for three years with no evidence and they're doing it all over again," Gidley told Fox News' Martha McCallum. "He has done nothing wrong, but remember, the media and the Democrats, and let's be fair, that's kind of synonymous, they want this to be true so badly."
Gidley said he would not reveal the contents of the transcript before its official release on Wednesday, including if Trump mentioned nearly $300 million in military aid that had been put on hold about a week before the call, and if he'd asked Zelensky for help in investigating former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
"What the world will see tomorrow is what Donald Trump said today in his tweet, there was no pressure, there was no quid pro quo," said Gidley.
He also said Democrats who are pushing for a whistleblower's report, which spurred the news of the telephone call, meaning they want a characterization from someone who may or may not have seen or heard the call in person.
"It baffles the mind how many times Democrats are going to go down this road and keep walking into these massive left hooks from Donald Trump," said Gidley. "They keep setting themselves up with no evidence, pushing lies on the American people, only to be proven wrong time and time again."
