Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has been investigating claims of illegal voting and violations of state election law — including allegations against a group founded by ex-Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams and previously chaired by Democrat Senate candidate Raphael Warnock.

At a news conference earlier this week, Raffensperger said America Votes is being probed for allegedly sending absentee ballot applications to people at addresses where they haven’t lived in more than 25 years. There are also probes being conducted of Vote Forward for allegedly trying to register a dead Alabama woman to vote in Georgia and the Abrams-Warnock affiliated New Georgia Project for allegedly sending voter registration applications to New York City.

“I have issued clear warnings several times to groups and individuals working to undermine the integrity of elections in Georgia through false and fraudulent registrations,” Raffensperger said in a statement Wednesday, Fox News reported. “The security of Georgia’s elections is of the utmost importance.”

Raffensperger's office detailed several instances in which The New Georgia Project allegedly solicited voters living out of state and people who have passed away, Fox News reported.

The allegations include one Fulton County resident who reported receiving five postcards from The New Georgia Project soliciting a registration “for the same dead person,” and a Cherokee County resident who received a voter registration solicitation from the group for his spouse who is ineligible to vote, Raffensperger’s office said, according to Fox News.

A third person, according to Raffensperger's office, said The New Georgia Project sent a voter registration solicitation to his daughter who is not registered to vote in Georgia and had not lived in the state for five years.

A fourth person reported receiving a “package of postcards” at her home in New York City from The New Georgia Project encouraging people to register to vote in the Georgia Senate runoffs, the office said.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
