About 2.1 million people have already voted in the Georgia Senate runoffs.
Reuters reported that the figure amounts to more than a quarter of the state’s registered voters. It breaks down like this: about 1.3 million voted early at in-person polling places. Another 721,000 people voted by mail.
Reuters attributed the figures to state data published Thursday.
About 4 million voters in Georgia had cast their ballots early in the November election.
Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., is facing Democrat Jon Ossoff in one of the Jan. 5 runoffs, while Sen. Kelly Loeffler, R-Ga., is being challenged by Democrat Raphael Warnock in the other. Polls show both races are tight.
