While ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos has said he will sit out the Republican presidential primary debate ABC is hosting in February, he has yet to say if he will participate in any Democratic debates.
The Washington Examiner is reporting that a spokeswoman for ABC News said she had no comment on whether Stephanopoulos would moderate a Democratic debate because no Democratic debate has been scheduled yet.
The Democratic National Committee has yet to release its debate schedule, but it did not respond to any requests for comment by the Examiner.
After news broke that Stephanopoulos donated $75,000 to the Clinton Foundation from 2012 to 2014, the host of "This Week"
told Politico that he will not moderate ABC's Republican debate.
"I won't moderate that debate," Stephanopoulos said. "I think I've shown that I can moderate debates fairly. That said, I know there have been questions made about moderating debates this year. I want to be sure I don't deprive viewers of a good debate."
While Stephanopoulos told Politico that he donated money to the Clinton Foundation "for the best reasons," he acknowledged that he "probably shouldn't have."
