President Donald Trump is a "Hollywood elitist," according to actor George Clooney.
Trump and his chief strategist Steve Bannon criticize Hollywood, yet they both benefit from it, Clooney said in an interview with France's Canal Plus, according to Vanity Fair.
Clooney said that Trump was hypocritical in slamming Meryl Streep for making an anti-Trump speech at the Golden Globe Awards.
"When Meryl spoke, everyone on that one side was, 'Well, that's elitist Hollywood speaking.' Donald Trump has 22 acting credits. He collects $120,000 a year in his Screen Actors Guild pension fund. He is a Hollywood elitist," Clooney said.
Trump's actual SAG fund is at $110,228, according to Trump's financial disclosure forms. He hosted multiple seasons of "The Apprentice" and "Celebrity Apprentice," as well as making cameo appearances on sitcoms such as "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" and in movies, including "Home Alone 2."
"Steve Bannon is a failed film writer and director," Clooney noted, citing that he attempted to write a Shakespeare-inspired rap movie about the Los Angeles riots. Bannon also directed a number of documentary films, according to The Daily Beast.
The chief strategist also purchased a share of the residuals from the sitcom "Seinfeld," and earns royalties from that show's reruns.
"He's an elitist. That's the reality," Clooney said in the Canal Plus interview.
