Many Democratic congressmen are running away from President Barack Obama now, in an effort to keep their jobs. But Rep. Gene Taylor of Mississippi is going further than that. He’s bragging that he voted for Republican John McCain in the 2008 presidential election,
The Hill reports.

“I did not vote for Obama. I voted for Sen. McCain,” Taylor told reporter Maria Recio of The Sun Herald of South Mississippi, she tells The Hill. “Better the devil you know,” Taylor says.
He was one of the few Democrats in Congress who refrained from backing candidate Obama in 2008.
The 11-term incumbent confronts a hot re-election contest with Republican state Rep. Steven Palazzo.
The challenger says that Taylor votes with Pelosi 82 percent of the time, and the National Republican Congressional Committee has run ads against Taylor labeling him as a Pelosi Democrat.
