President Donald Trump should be applauded for implementing the tax cuts last year, but has been negligent in not having the spending reductions that should go along with that, Senate candidate from New Mexico Gary Johnson told Newsmax TV's "America Talks Live."
Johnson, who served two terms as governor of New Mexico and decided to run for Senate as an Independent just over a month ago, said the deficit is the biggest issue facing the country today.
"Nobody is talking about spending," he lamented. "Nobody wants to talk about the fact that at some point this whole thing implodes."
He stressed "I'm going to put the issues on the front burner that should be on the front burner."

Johnson, who ran for president in both 2012 and 2016 as the Libertarian candidate, said he seeks as an Independent to serve as a swing vote on many issues in the Senate, with an emphasis on reducing the size and scope of the federal government.
Illustrating his refusal to toe the line with one political party or the other, Johnson said he supports Trump's nomination of Brett Kavanaugh for Supreme Court justice.
However, he said he did not agree with the Trump administration's efforts to revitalize coal, because the free market has determined it is a dying industry due to fracking and natural gas being a cheaper and more efficient alternative.
Johnson also harshly criticized Trump for not telling "the truth on a day to day basis."
