Donald Trump's support among white Protestant Republicans has gone up since he was declared the GOP presumptive presidential nominee last month, a new tracking poll shows.

Gallup's June survey shows Trump's support among "highly religious" white Protestant GOP voters is 66 percent for June, compared with 57 percent from Feb. 1-May 31, the survey shows.

Among "moderately religious" white Protestant GOP voters, Trump has 73 percent support in June compared with 70 percent for the earlier time frame; he has 65 percent support among those who are "not religious" white Protestant voters, compared with 64 percent in the earlier period.

The real estate mogul was declared the party's presumptive nominee on May 3.

"While white Republican Protestants overall have positive opinions of Trump, their opinions are broadly similar, regardless of religiosity," the pollster stated.

The tracking poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 points.

Among those who self-identified as "highly religious," Trump's support has now surpassed the 63 percent of that same group who support Texas Sen. Ted Cruz before he suspended his campaign in May, the poll shows.

Trump met with Christians and social conservative leaders in New York last week, provocatively declaring "We don't know anything about Hillary in terms of religion."

She is a Methodist.

"While white Republican Protestants overall have positive opinions of Trump, their opinions are broadly similar, regardless of religiosity," the pollster stated.
