Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is being hit over his lack of a college degree, but voters care more about how smart Walker has been more recently
— in his office as governor, says pollster and political consultant Frank Luntz.
Appearing Thursday on Fox News Channel's
"Your World with Neil Cavuto," Luntz noted that the two best-educated presidents since the middle of the 20th century are Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama. The two worst: Harry Truman and Ronald Reagan.
Luntz says that when he does focus groups on the issue a couple of people might say they are concerned that Walker left college shy of a degree.
"But they are overwhelmed by Republicans who say, 'Wait a minute, our most intelligent presidents have often been our worst presidents, and here's a guy who understands how to get things done. He has won three elections,'" Luntz said.
