Ex-Secret Service Agent: Russia Probe 'Biggest Scam in Modern American History'

Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino Monday declared the Russia probe is the "biggest scam in modern American history" after the Department of Justice released documents over the weekend showing a salacious dossier against President Donald Trump was one of the justifications used to obtain a surveillance warrant against one of his campaign aides.

"President Trump is right and right to be annoyed," Bongino told Fox News' "Fox and Friends."

"Now that the FISA warrant application, all 400 pages...the case was a hoax. The hoax was paid for by Hillary Clinton."

On Saturday, Judicial Watch released a set of four heavily redacted FISA applications, obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, that show the FBI used a salacious dossier concerning Trump and Russia to obtain the warrants against Page, but the dossier's financial sponsors, first Trump's GOP opponents and then through the Hillary Clinton campaign, were not specifically disclosed.

"Let's describe the hoax using the FBI leadership's own words about the hoax," said Bongino, pointing out that former FBI Director James Comey had said the dossier was "salacious and unverified," and Deputy Director Andy McCabe had said that without the document, there would not be a FISA warrant.

He noted that FBI agent Peter Strzok, "the lead hoax investigator," also said there's "no there, there."

"You all got worked, America," said Bongino, "This is the biggest scam in modern American history."

Bongino also called into question the decision not to mention that Clinton's team had paid in part for the dossier. The fact that the funding was politicallly motivated though,  was disclosed in the FISA warrant, according to The Hill.

"The critical component of information the judge needed to evaluate the content was Hillary Clinton's team paid for this information," said Bongino. "It was her information. It was her team. Now, yet, dancing around that doesn't absolve them of the responsibility."

Bongino complained that he is most disturbed about the ongoing investigation because Trump has been "treated like a citizen in a Third World communist republic."

"Justice died a little bit Friday night," Bongino said about the information revealed by the Department of Justice. I'm not like here to own the libs and destroy the constitutional republic. If this was a Democrat, I assure you I would go to the grave with this. I would be making the same case on national television. Donald Trump was treated like a citizen in Cuba and liberals don't give a hoot. It's a shame."

Bongino also took offense with Rep. Adam Schiff, D-California, who has commented that the president is acting like he has been compromised by Russia.

"He is a fraud and liar and [a] disgrace, [an] embarrassment to himself, the Congress, the country," said Bongino. "Adam Schiff has been the lead hoaxer. He has been out there on television now for a year looking in the face of you, America, and lying to every one of you in an effort to distract the entire country on a hoax Russia scandal. He is a fraud and he should be called out as a fraud. He has been lying to everyone."
