Donald Trump continues to hold the lead among Florida voters — but Marco Rubio has overtaken Ben Carson in second place and Jeb Bush has dropped to fifth place in the Republican presidential race, a new survey says.

On the Democratic side, the Florida Atlantic University Poll shows Hillary Clinton remaining in first place over Bernie Sanders and Martin O'Malley.

The results among the Republican candidates:
  • Trump: 35.9 percent.
  • Rubio: 18.4 percent.
  • Carson: 14.5 percent.
  • Ted Cruz: 10 percent.
  • Bush: 8.9 percent.
  • Rand Paul: 4.1 percent.
  • John Kasich: 3 percent.
  • Carly Fiorina: 2.4 percent.
  • Chris Christie, Mike Huckabee and Lindsey Graham: Less than 1 percent each.
For the Democrats:
  • Clinton: 65.5 percent.
  • Sanders: 22.4 percent.
  • O'Malley: 4 percent.
  • In hypothetical matchups, Clinton would lose to these Republicans:
  • Trump: 49.2 to 40.5 percent.
  • Carson: 50.2 to 40.5 percent.
  • Rubio: 50.2 to 43 percent.
  • Cruz: 47.9 to 44.9 percent.
  • Bush: 44.4 to 39.8 percent.
"Despite conjecture that Donald Trump has plateaued, his support in Florida remains very strong and could be growing," said Kevin Wagner, an FAU associate professor of political science.

The poll was conducted by FAU's Business and Economics Polling Initiative. It involved a total of 829 registered voters, who were interviewed on Sunday and Monday.

The survey has a margin of error of 3.3 percent.
