President-elect Donald Trump will call next Monday the first working day of his presidency, not inauguration day or his first weekend in the White House.

Trump made the remark during an interview with The Times of London.

"[D]ay one — which I will consider to be Monday, as opposed to Friday or Saturday," Trump said in the interview. "Right? I mean my day one is gonna be Monday, because I don't want to be signing, and get it mixed up with lots of celebration."

Last summer, The Hill noted, Trump vowed to take actions on immigration during his "first hour in office."

Washington, D.C., has become a fortified city, with 100 square blocks slated to be protected and shut down for inauguration day. Protesters have vowed to cause disturbances, including one group that said it would block the inaugural ceremony and the parade down Pennsylvania Avenue from the Capitol to the White House.
