President Donald Trump, in a pair of mid-morning tweets Wednesday, noted the "originators and founders" of the "Rigged Russian Witch Hunt" are being fired, and pointed out a former FBI assistant director agrees the firing of agent Peter Strzok was the right thing to do.
"The Rigged Russian Witch Hunt goes on and on as the 'originators and founders' of this scam continue to be fired and demoted for their corrupt and illegal activity," the president first posted. "All credibility is gone from this terrible Hoax, and much more will be lost as it proceeds. No collusion!"
He then quoted the former assistant director, Chris Swecker, who had appeared on Fox News' "America's Newsroom" to discuss the actions of Strzok, former FBI Director James Comey, and ex-Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.
"'The action (the Strzok firing) was a decisive step in the right direction in correcting the wrongs committed by what has been described as Comey's skinny inner circle.' Chris Swecker, former FBI Assistant Director," Trump tweeted.
Swecker, who outlined his views in a Fox News opinion piece, said Wednesday the three fired former FBI officials violated rules and procedures while representing themselves "as heroes," so he and many other in the FBI "deeply resent" them.
"They set their own personal judgments about Trump and put their finger on the scale and thumb of the scale of the Clinton email investigation and very aggressively pursued the Trump investigation or the Russia investigation," he said.
