Family detention centers could reach full capacity soon, considering the current rate of families crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, NBC News reported.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention centers contain 3,335 beds, but 420 parents and children have been entering the U.S. daily, according to NBC.
At that rate, full capacity will be reached in eight days and it is not certain how many beds are in use now.
Even if new beds are found, the Department of Health and Human Services reported that families in the U.S. who have already been separated are likely to continue being separated for now, NBC reported.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order Wednesday afternoon to halt the family separation policy.
