The Republican tax plan is tailor-made to help President Donald Trump, a government ethics watchdog group claimed on Thursday.
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, or CREW, is a nonprofit organization that attempts to improve government accountability and reduce the influence of money on politics. They cite Daily Beast reporter Andrew Desiderio, who pointed out that the tax plan the GOP rolled out today does include a repeal of the tax, and changes to the estate tax that would also benefit wealthy individuals like Trump.
CREW notes that although Trump withheld his tax returns during the election, it was revealed in his 2005 tax return obtained by MSNBC's Rachel Maddow in March that Trump paid $38 million in taxes on $150 million in income, $31 million of that due to the alternative minimum tax.
