President Donald Trump’s son, Eric, said he was "incredibly proud" of his father for nominating Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court.
Eric Trump’s comments came during a Tuesday interview on Fox News.
He said his father made a "great choice," and noted Kavanaugh is well-respected.
"He went to Yale," Trump said. "He teaches at Harvard. He has been on the D.C. Circuit Court. He has written 300 opinions. I mean, there is really a lot out there on the guy. He’s incredibly well-respected by everybody. He will uphold the Constitution. I'm proud. I think my father made a great choice."
He criticized those who opposed the president’s selection – even before it was announced.
"They will say anything," he said. "And I think at the end of the day it actually, in a certain way, helps us because I think it discredits them in a very, very, very big way. People are sick and tired of this nonsense. People are sick and tired of the noise. I mean, where have we gone? Where have we gone? Give a person a chance. "
He said critics should let the process play out with the Kavanaugh’s Senate confirmation hearings.
"Let these people be able to look him in the eye. Ask the tough questions that you need to ask of any supreme court justice. But you have to let that process play out."
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has said the Senate will vote this fall on Trump’s nominee.
Meanwhile, Eric Trump said it was "shocking" that certain Democratic senators who were invited to be on hand for President Trump’s announcement of Kavanaugh failed to show up.
"He could set on a bench for 30-plus years," he said. It's shocking."
