President Donald Trump is vowing to veto the National Defense Authorization Act if it includes Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s amendment to remove Confederate names from military installations.

Trump’s comments came in a late Tuesday tweet. He wrote: "I will Veto the Defense Authorization Bill if the [Sen.] Elizabeth 'Pocahontas' Warren (of all people!) Amendment, which will lead to the renaming (plus other bad things!) of Fort Bragg, Fort Robert E. Lee, and many other Military Bases from which we won Two World Wars, is in the Bill!”

CNN noted the bill funds the Pentagon and is one of the pieces of legislation that Congress can be counted on to pass each year. Warren has offered an amendment to the bill which would require the Pentagon to change the Confederate names within the next three years.

In his tweet, Trump again referred to Warren by the name of the famed Native American princess. He has done so in the past to mock the Massachusetts Democrat’s claim of Native American ancestry.
